Introducing Alaska’s only public glassblowing studio where visitors and residents alike can blow their own glass art!
While there are a few private glassblowing studios in the Last Frontier, none are as open to the public or nestled in a more beautiful setting than Garden City Glassworks in Skagway.
Alaska’s newest ‘Hot Shop’ sits at the base of an impressive rock wall amid the beauty of Jewell Gardens, arguably the state’s most impressive show garden. About a mile from town, the Gardens are a welcome retreat from the busy-ness of downtown Skagway which can see up to 12,000 cruise ship visitors per day in the summer season.
This exciting project was inspired by the ‘Gardens & Glass’ series of installations by renowned Northwest glass artist Dale Chihuly. The color and
Garden City Glassworks ships the finished product home for clients at no extra cost once they’ve cooled the next day.
